I remember that, we had a similar "accident" up here in Michigan on I-94... It could have been avoided, if these steering wheel holders would have used their CB Radios. I was on I-94 prior to that accident, the roads were terrible and few if any drivers had their CB on... Over 100 trucks were involved, and a few fatalities.
What do you carry with you?

In a bad crash, un-pocketed cell phones and loose wallets get lost and especially hard to find in the dark, so anything you can do to be redundant in these matters can be helpful when crap hits the fan.

TripleSix and Trucker61016 Thank this. -
I've used them mostly for cutting seatbelts. Even if you carry a sidearm, you should keep a blade ready. Less conspicuous and a quicker draw than a gun.Justrucking2 and TaterFox Thank this. -
Also, if you have a retired cell phone you're no longer using [that can still work with your carrier], might be a good idea to keep it and it's charger in your truck in the event you break yours or drop it in the toilet, or whatever, then you can maybe make a phone call and get your service re-routed to your backup device until you can get back home to get a permanent replacement.

Justrucking2 and TripleSix Thank this. -
EDIT: Notice in the video "Joseph" jumps out of the truck with no coat and shoes in hand? No hat, nothing to cover his head. How long do you think he had to stand out in the cold?Last edited: Dec 27, 2017
Vic Firth, wore out and Justrucking2 Thank this. -
I keep an emergency contact list on my wallet, log book, and permit binder. One of my DOG tags hang on the horn cord, the toe tag is fixed to the pull strap on my boot. You never realize how bad your stuff can get scattered till it's too late.
Seat belts are tougher than most think. Keep the knife sharp. -
Always keep your phone contacts backed up. And if there are any important phone numbers you don't have permanently memorized because you've always selected them in your phone, write them down and keep them in your wallet. -
TripleSix Thanks this.

Tons of stuff. Are you really interested in me listing every last little item, or are you just interested in more unique things?
