Hi I do not know how different it is in various states, but I have heard that if you register Truck under IRP you do not pay sales tax provided that TRUCK IS BRAND NEW. Is it correct? Does it matter who purchases individual or corporation?

CT DMV office IRP unit told me that they do not collect Sales Tax, but I do not have clear answer whether SALE TAX is due or totally exempt

Dealer does not know this at all.

Nope no sales tax in "most" states, but of course you did just get strip searched for the 12% FET!

Most states you don't pay the sales tax if you go under Irp new or used. But they will most likely hold your title until you set up the IRP. Georgia has mine and I am nervous to say the least. They have been known to loose a title or two.

    SO What about FET?

I googled and it is little tricky to understand FET applies or not.

Truck is Ram 5500 with GVWR 19500, it is registered at IRP as 39500 (includes trailer 20 000)

Is FET that is already included in the price when dealer gives you rsvmp price?

Who is responsible to collect? Which trucks are exempt if any

Never mind, I thought you meant big truck, don't think FET applies to under 26,000???

He wouldn't pay sales tax, but will pay property tax to whichever town he has a address in.

I have a situation where GA is holding my title too. Did you ever get it resolved? What was the issue? Do you run under your own authority or are running under someone elses plates?

Went down to set up my irp at the big tag office in college park. They have a seperate line from the regular tags. I want to say that everything will be on-line starting 2018. That being said I took my 2290, copy of contract and a couple of other documents and everything went smooth. There were guys having issues with the Irp but it was because they didn’t have everything or there was issues with were the title was being held. After I paid my fees they gave me my tag and then the irp sends confirmation to the state for release of the title. The apportioned tag comes from the irp side of things not the title division. The way it sounded to me is the notification of release was automatic. The irp lady couldn’t answer when I would get the tittle. So I then walked over to the “tag and title” side of things. The lady there looked it up and said yep everything is paid and title was set to be released and mailed out at midnight. Received the title in the mail one week or later.

    Hope this helps.
