With the cb if you do not want to listen you can turn it down and if it starts lighting up it means many are trying to say something, then just turn it up so you can hear the warnings.

Why a cb? So when I pass you and hold up my mic you can turn it on. I can tell you about the missing wheel, flat tire, open back door, or what you are dragging down the road. I have seen it all and got the stupid look from the driver when I hold up my mic.

Buy a atlas and learn how to use it, trusting a gps can end your career before it gets started.

I had a driver pull up next to me, turn on the cab lights, start trying furiously to get my attention, I lifted my mic, they had one dangling in the cab, he nods at me and speeds off. Nothing was missing off my trailer, nothing dragging, I couldn't find any reason for it, but it would be nice if people would try to communicate a little better...

It's ok. I still have my old Uniden PC76xl, nothing too special. Just a memento from the days I rolled on it.

What that radio has done is saved lives when my number one called me on it. To get out of my lane right now because Im about to kill 6 people coming on.

If that is not a reason to have a radio I don't know what it is.

On the flip side, having a radio will gain you access to the criminal side, prostitution and drug dealing etc. You will quickly understand it has no value. And run with the volume very low in the bad areas.

Heck when someone passes me I am not going to look inside the cab passing me, I am watching the road and making sure I have a out, looking at others can set another off and then they go crazy.

The only Must Haves are your valid license, health cards and the HOS. You can get by without everything else.

But who the hell wants to just 'get by'?

The goal shouldn't be just to get by, its to be good at what you do. When it comes tto gear and tools, ìts not if you use it, its if you have it. Without the right tools at the right time, it becomes extremely difficult do your best job.
