I just like to drive. Long stretches, over big hills, and ice roads, and high winds, at high speed when legal. And the office views always change.

Tax cuts have worked every time they have been carried out. Class warfare helps nothing.

I seen many ads in the paper showing 14-21hr driving truck. But straight time only then I see oil field work pay x,xxx but then they don’t tell you the mules that the sand will give you cancer and the pipes/bits have Radiation. Google it and read about the lawsuits in Houma,LA. Truckers otr traveling to me is a thing of the past. Strategize to get the most out of trucking. Before long it’ll be all megas to work for. Choose you color of that truck.

The only way to cut them megas at the hip is for truckers to lobby for at least a 6 months to a year training and training trucks are ran as single seat meaning no team.

That is correct. Truck drivers are classified as Unskilled Labor by the United States Labor Dept.

You would be surprised...It depends on where you haul and what you haul and how cheap a company can get a new guy to work.New a guy hauled logs..down by Roseburg Oregon.(paid by load).Never would show him what they were getting for the load.Anyway(after all the BS), I said $400 to $500 is all your paycheck was". I said "Why did you stay 12 years". He said"There wasnt any jobs around,Had to do it. Also, drivers that Quit on,"these Megas",dont have much experience "to bargain with".

The trucking industry will get a exemption or start charging you for rent to sleep in the truck on your break, The trucking industry drives this country and they will cry when the profits are a bit less and congress will fold over and give them a exemption.

Driving a day cab allows me to continue trucking and keep the normalcy.... at least what is normal for me. Sleeping in my own bed, showering at home, doing laundry at home, being with the wife and kids. Some bosses can be pricks, so far I'm happy with my boss. He lets me do my job.

I like knowing my route, I don't have to figure out where I'm going every time I climb into my truck, I just go.

As far as money goes, I'm going into my 2nd year driving making 54k per year. I don't see there being any more money in otr.....If it's with a mega, it's likely less money

It works well for me. I also like visiting my farms
