Signed no contract. Education was NOT free. I owe $500 for the hotel no matter what. The deal you make with Swift is stay 13 mos and you only pay half the $3900. Stay 26 months and it's free. Leave immediately and make payments of $150 a month. With the opportunity presented us, it is much more profitable at this point to pay the $150/mo. At no point did we promise Swift or sign anything that said we would stay for a year. We just have to pay if we don't. And of all the people we met at the academy, we are the only ones who still work for Swift and the others are already doing better. So I feel no guilt.
5 months in, need a new company.

And how sure are you that you just boosted your income by about 40%?Dan.S Thanks this. -
When people are dismissive of advice that is passed on to them that has been gained through experience, it is more that disingenuous on the person who is asking for the advice than that of the advice giver.
As a fleet owner, I will look at a resume with a five month duration in the first job and it goes right into the garbage. -
And to answer your question, fairly sure. The offer was a guaranteed salary, not cpm, so miles don't matter. Our MVRs are squeaky clean, we have no criminal backgrounds, and we can pass a drug test... so no reason to be rejected. But even if it were to fall through for some reason, I'm no worse off at this point than when I started, and still have quite a good list of companies to consider. -
Lucky for me, I wasn't asking you for a job and someone else was fine with my resume. I guess you should tell them how to run their business since they must be doing it wrong, hmm? -
Personally I would have recommended TSMT.
Who did you go with?Dan.S Thanks this. -

I'm not going to reveal my choice until the hiring process is through... even then maybe not. With some of the attitudes I've seen here, I have no doubt that some of them aren't above actually trying to stop me from getting better employment since I wasn't a good little newbie who bowed and obeyed the keyboard gods. You would hope that those so keen to offer advice to new people would be above that, but with the hostility I've seen here, I don't doubt it for a second. Misery loves company, but I don't want any part of it.
