People that don't listen, don't research and jump on the first job offer, usually make $30K - $40K per year. The others make $50K - $65K.
Yes, that's for new cdl grads. Of course you have to be in the right hiring area for those jobs and Dallas is one of those hiring areas.

SplashDogs, Dan.S and Jazz1 Thank this.

A lot of the jobs I'm finding are requiring a year of experience in this or that. How can a fresh cdl earn experience like that to be competitive? On the job training?

Read the fine print, "one yrs. experience OR graduate from an approved cdl school."
Some do actually require one yr. experience, but others have exceptions such as graduate from an approved school or have military experience.
Millis Transfer in Burleson,TX has their own cdl school and those grads make $50K+ right out of that school.
There's some companies that do have OJT and the pay is really good.
    Sygma Network
    McLane Foodservice
    LaBatt Foodservice
Gordon Foodservice - $1000.00 weekly - new cdl school grads.
Performance Food Group - must have CDL-A and less than 6 mos. experience for this "Driver Trainee" position.
With these companies you apply for "Associate Driver" and will train on-the-job with an experienced driver. They give you 90 days to qualify for your cdl. After completing the OJT and acquiring the cdl it's easy to jump to $70K per year.

If trucking isn't the lifestyle you want, you won't make it past the first rung on the ladder, let alone 10 years.

I thought commercial pilots made peanuts unless they get a cushy airline job. But those were few and are more who you know opportunity.

Here's another example: the ad says one yr. experience needed, but in fact they will hire new cdl grads under their "Driver Apprentice Program."

We had two guys at our outfit hired on straight out of school. Zero experience. Hauling LPG. I took home 56k my first year there and that was only working every other week. The jobs are out there, you gotta look off the beaten path.

    Best of Luck -
