I think some of the better ones are actually embarrassed by the low rates. There were several I called on yesterday they told me flat-out "man it's not worth the time it doesn't pay anything". Scary part is that was coming from TQL Agents.
I'm easy I'm not cheap.
How often do you move a $200-$300 load?

The last time I moved a $200 load was early 2003. I just found some old settlements. I was averaging $1.25 back then on mileage pay with a $4,000 cabover. Truckers were parking their rigs because of $2 fuel. The only way a $2-300 move makes sense is very short haul drop and hook with mass quantity and decent length of time. 5 or 6 <50 mile loads a day per truck for a year, sign me up. One or two loads, haha and good luck

When I first started up with a loadboard booking, I though that some of those and actually also those less than 1000 a day were all right. Until I run my numbers, a year later or so, to find out that I, the proud owner-operator with his own authority as I thought I was, had made less than many, ordinary company drivers. Well... no more. T-Dune, RollinCoal, Ruthless, Boywonder and others by their posts, did set me straight. Hell, never take those cheapos, it is better not to leave the house at all.

It's one thing when you're doing 5 or 6 loads a day like that consistently and not burning much fuel to do it, quick, easy. It's another thing altogether when some yahoo is trying to sell you on ONE of those cheap loads out here on the open market. I'm seeing that same kind of #### today from Atlanta yet again. Phone ringing like crazy too. Ridiculous. I do better every time going back empty.

spyder7723, BoyWander and wore out Thank this. -
Just got offered an Atlanta to Forest Park, GA. 0* and only 10,000 lbs from good ol CH. Pick before 15:00 and deliver at 01:30 to MCClain. $400 for 11 loaded miles any takers? What a load of nonsense. I'll book 5, 6 or 7 times that, maybe more, this afternoon.
spyder7723, Diesel Dave and whoopNride Thank this. -
Two or three times a week hauling grain or fertilizer.

But by its self alone I can sit and watch Netflix or work on something around the house -
This is reefer. Time gets wasted. You'd be lucky to finish 1 in legal hours. Complete waste of equipment and certain loss of revenue booking this garbage for $400.
OLDSKOOLERnWV Thanks this.
