I run for about 100 brokers on and off and not one has me do anything other than email them (sometimes even just a pic!) clean BOL, CON, and a bill.

Why does LS want paper snail mailed in.

Now after I persisted the agent did email them in... but here is what he said:

I completely understand your perspective however it's from your point of view.
I do believe you are right and Landstar should have some sort of email set up for you to email, but the agent should not be involved with your paperwork.

    In response to this:

How in the world can LS not accept verified (by you) docs from a LS employee????
I ran a load for trilogy once and they couldn't do it but how can you not?
Thanks for emailing them in but this LS crap makes it annoying to run loads for them/you.
The only other load I ever ran for LS resulted in huge pay delays because the broker (trilogy logistics) just failed to mention any of this and no one ever cared to care until I found it. I am sure everyone else got paid!

Now I had a LS help desk agent walk me through installing your submission software once......and that was OK....but all it is is fancy proprietary scanner software which uploads the exact same thing I emailed you...

In a world of technology I have to ask and wonder why LS wastes peoples time and resources?

Thanks again for emailing them I don't even own a stamp and I would bet 100 bucks I have no envelopes in my house!

I mail things from all over the place. The few bill payments that are not electronic anyway. Envelope and stamp, computer and printer/scanner in the truck. Drop it in mailbox, done. Landstar's payment system does kind of suck though. I think there is a program you can use to electronically send it in. It would not work for me as a Canadian carrier, think there was some issue with zip codes (we use postal codes) - so I gave up on it. I don't do much for them anyway so the rare load that I do for them that ended up taking a while to pay ... not a huge deal. Their credit is good, just payment system could be more accommodating. Have others that are quick with the checkbook and most fall somewhere in between so it all works out. Don't have a lot of large fixed expenses outside of my business so even when it's tight I can get by just fine with drawing a smaller salary for the month. Have more than enough available line of credit and credit cards for emergency above $25k. It all works out at year end (for me) anyway. I rather take a big bonus at the end of the year that way I won't blow it all in restaurants and casinos. Directly over to the investment man or a sizeable extra mortgage payment is how I do it.

Years ago I did a lot of 53 van automotive expedite freight from Landstar. A scan of the POD was always sufficient for payment back then 2011-2014.

Since I've started doing reefer around mid 2016 I've only done 3 Landstar reefer loads. All 3 required original,POD for payment. I thought it was just a reefer thing because believe it or not some reefer freight actually does require originals. But apparently it's just a Landstar thing.

It's one of many reasons they are normally a "do not haul" broker for me. The loads I did book were solid rates but they were loads of last resort. Landstar broker sucks any more imo. The van brokers I used to work with years ago all disappeared but they were people of their word and good to work with. These latest ones with the reefer freight are sketchy. Had issues with all 3 loads.

There are too many other decent brokers out here with better freight to really waste time with Landstar.

I am just shocked by his feeling that he should not be involved!? That blew me away....and he said he is with landstar....not some other broker moving a LS load.

My point is I feel a LS broker/agent or whatever they call themselves should absolutely be involved in the paperwork as is EVERY other broker that I (admittedly a one man nobody operation) am aware of is absolutely directly involved in the paperwork.

    Where does this feeling originate?

And honestly I am getting more anti tech every day (been in IT for 20 years) but I'll be ###### to hell for all of eternity before trucks moving envelopes with BOL's in them ever makes sense to me again.

    LOLOLOL.

You think landstar mails their invoices to their customers? Lol!!

It a great way to delay paying carriers.

How about all their little unexplained fees?

    Mattflat362 and Tropsnart Thank this.

I'm not sure why you wouldn't be able to scan and email you BOL in to get paid its much quicker and saves paper? Perhaps their trying to keep the USPS in business.

Odd... 5 years at Landstar as a BCO before I left ; never once sent in an original BOL by mail. Just transflo "mobile app"

    Sounds like foolery

You're a BCO leased to Landstar. That's apples and oranges. On their brokerage side they do this to delay payment. It's just an old broker trick the worst of the worst pull.

    No, I was as bco.

They accepted every load digital from a BCO but ask independents for physical copies... just putting that out there
