Swift has been bad mouthed alot on this forum I see, but I actually have had relatively little difficulty with the company and Ive been with them for over 8 years OTR. I started at the rate they told me I would, got the miles they said I would, made what they said I would, and got my cpm adjustments on time. Before everyone gets all bent out of shape, I will preface this by adding that I am NOT a recuriter or person in management whatsoever @ Swift, and anyone who wants my name to verify that can have it if they send me a PM. Do whatever digging you want, youll see that I am in fact just a satisfied OTR driver for swift giving a different opinion than the usual slamming the company recieves since they havent done anything exceptionally wrong to me thus far. If that opinion ever changes you will be the first to know here, but for now I am more than satisfied. Im about to get on a good dedicated run within the next month so Im very excited about that! Its something I was BS'd to about but never got the opportunity to get when I was over @ Martin. Yes... I left Marten for Swift... and yes... Im HAPPY! Only thing I liked better at Marten was the Petes/KW's vs. the Freightrattler's @ Swift, but hey Ill give up a little bit in showmanship to have good job security and as many miles as I can handle on a consistent basis... Oh yeah... Let me add that Ive NEVER had an accident in my truck and dont fudge my logbooks either. Maybe I just have a good dispatcher and got lucky who knows....

You've been with them for 8 years? That's a miracle. Why is it a miracle? Because it's almost unheard of. I'll take your word on it though.

I take note of something that does plant a seed of wonderment in my mind. You claimed you left Marten, for reasons including being "bs'd" about getting on with a dedicated position, yet you have languished for 8 years at Swift waiting for the same thing?

I also noticed that in two of your ten posts, you have tried to steer someone to Swift, and have in this post asked people to private message you. Be careful that this is not misinterpreted as an attempt to recruit people.

This puts me in a difficult position, because I see the need for people to offer their opinions of companies, and I do want to encourage the positive as well as the negative, but at the same time, my own research (stretching over several years) into just about every aspect of that company leaves me wanting to gag. They are that bad. I've documented much of it in these very forums.

One person in many years has been able to convince me that they were bonafied and had the history with the company that they claimed, but they were working out of one certain terminal that is the exception to the rule.

Do you know which terminal that would be?

Are you aware of the difference between the status of those drivers that work out of that terminal, versus all the others?

If you notice in my posts I never said to PM me with info on getting in at Swift, I said to PM me if anyone wanted to get my name to research me and verify that I am in fact not a recruiter. I simply suggested to a couple others to consider swift as one of their options and make a decision on their own. This is the only pro-swift post Ill be posting and its in the appropriate section so its not like Ill be on here pumpin swift all over the place.

During orientation at Marten in early 1999, out of curiosity I asked if they had very many dedicated opportunities and got a very flat, unequivocal "no" in response. Not sure how Marten recruiters might answer this question to prospective drivers though.

The job security and miles I get at Marten both suit me fine.

a miracle yes, but not un-do-able, as the swift driver that works out of my warehouse has been with swift for 7 years now. i couldn't believe that either, but yes, that's how long he's been with'em.

My trainer at Swift had been with them for six years when I was with him. He said he was making more as a trainer than he would going solo somewhere else. So it is possible, highly unlikely but possible.

Yes, I saw that, and it's an iffy area of concern with us. Private messaging is one method that recruiters have abused in the past, in spite of the fact that you wanted people to contact you, rather than the other way around.

Really...do you think that there is not one person who visits this board, that is not aware of that company? I truly apologize. I know my bias is on my sleeve at the moment. And it's wrong as well for me to single you out like this, but that company stinks, and there's just no way I can see it any differently.

Okay...I'm going to hold you to that promise.

Uummm....why didn't you answer my previous questions?

Okay..point taken folks. Without question, there are people who stay on with Swift for long periods of time. I didn't meant to imply otherwise. But, as a percentage of their entire fleet, the people that do hang around for more than a year, are in the single digits.

It's the 150% or more that leave them each year that one needs to keep in mind when discussing that company. They're not leaving for no reason.

When I got on at Swift back in the day, I got paired with a trainer who had been with Swift nearly six years. He [complained] about them every day, but he HAD held on that long. Not long after he graduated me, he went to a company out of Indiana called "Winners Only". I assume he's still with that outfit.
