First one that I'M AWARE of that offers 5 gig frequence, ac protocol and is capable of gigabit speed. Should work really good if one finds themself in a 5g test market.

I have the zte mobley through att. It only has 2.4 frequency as all others do. With only a,b,n protocal. Max speed of 30 mbps. With average of 5 - 10 mbps. Inside the house though it's a lousy 1.5 mbps.

This new dude is much faster. Max speed of 60 mbps. Average of 30 mbps. 12 mbps inside the house.

I bought the device outright. And used my zte sim card so i still get the $20 unlimited plan. I have directvnow app on tv. Supposed to not count towards my data but we'll see how that goes. Now that i have enough speed to actually use with the tv. This is on the ATT plan.

if you go into the settings. Looks like it handles cdma also.

My only drawback is i wish it was smaller and thinner for portability use. I can stick it in my pocket but it's bigger then the older more compact units.

Deleted comments about the $20 monthly plan. AT&T was out of stock on line for this device., However, there is a Best Buy nearby that has one.

@snowwy How do you power this device at home?

    ADD

This morning there was a software update. You have to be logged in with the computer to update.
Go in to settings, administration, firmware and click update.

I"m up to 22 mbps now inside the house. Improvement over the stock firmware. WAYYYY better then my mobley. Can't wait to see how she does with work. Tuesdays and Weddnesdays are my weekends.

I'M GETTING STOKED ABOUT THIS DEVICE.

I haven't been able to find the plan on att's websight. Bestbuy had to do a google to find the plan. 5 gigs for $50 was all that pulled up.

If anyone can find a link. I'd gladly buy another sim or 2 for $20 each. My chevrolet also has att built in. It's also $20 but it's through onstar. Att can't or won't handle the device. Even though it's added to my billing. So i see both devices on one bill. Att won't handle the billing part of it. And if they could. I'd have to pay the more expensive price.

It comes with charger and cable and battery. Just like any phone. I don't see anywhere to add an antannae though. Supposedly battery will last 24 hours.

I jumped the gun on the revival of the $20 plan. Probably not. Just went on line and out of stock at AT%T. There is a Best Buy nearby that has one.

Here is the comment about the monthly plan. How much does this mean exactly? $20 a month?

$49.99 is the 'discount' price when going with a two year contract. $49.99 (product); $40.00 one time activation fee; a monthly $20 access line fee (to use/access to the high speed data allotment); then there is the contract fee of $20 each month, for 2 years starting from the time you agreed to maintain the contract. If at any time the account is canceled, the person is to pay the remainder $149.99/ $150.00 plus $4 for each month that had been completed. If the 2 year agreement is fulfilled, the $20 contract fee will become a $20 credit for being off contract. $199.99 (unactivated) is the full retail price, so the person will not have to agree to a 2 year contract. If a person decide to go with this price then there will be a $40 one time activation fee and $20 dollar access line fee (if you chose to use it on postpaid plan) You can cancel the account any time without penalty. The $199.99 comes with a prepaid sim card, where as, the $49.99 comes with a postpaid sim card. Yes the sim card is already inside its tray underneath the battery. To activate the postpaid account you would have to go to AT&T's website and do a search for activate sim card.

    Answer
49.99 is the cost of the router with a 2 year contract. They activate it. After reading the instructions, after activation I was able to change passwords and setup the router. My ATT account has unlimited internet and there is a one time $45 activation fee and for $20 addition to my bill a month for 2 years. Two years times $20 a month is $480. Other internet Service Providers at $45 to $60 a month with limited data.. That totals to $1080 to $1440. That's a savings in my book. The battery last 24 hours and its portable and sits nicely in the dash of the car. 256GB of storage and the Kids can access movies on the router and watch them while going down the road. Each can watch what they want. Less noise from the back seat if you know what I mean

I bought the device outright from best buy. $214.09. They didn't charge me an activation fee. But if i return it. There's a $35 restocking fee. Unless it's defective.

The mobley i was using came to $22.01 every month. They simply took the sim out of my mobley and installed in nighthawk. Turned it on and it's active. Really simple process. BUT. I have the sim and account. So it might be different for people who don't already have service and are just getting started with att.

As long as they keep honoring the $20 unlimited. I'm keeping the sim.

It also has the option for a antenna to boost the cell signal which I'm going to try soon.

This statement was just in the Q and A section of Best Buy. I don't know either.
