They make an announcement that there'll be no more monthly cheap birthday cakes to celebrate associates birthdays.

They take away safety awards such as belt buckles and plaques that were given out yearly and now once every 5 years.

They no longer do cookouts often that you'd see drivers on here bragging about cheap steaks and will now only be once a quarter.

Funny the dumb idiots running the show in Bentonville are reaching so low for cuts but they won't touch that loser McMillions 22+ million dollar salary. Why the hell would anyone be worth that much if the multi-billion dollar company has to take away birthday cakes to save a few bucks?

I know some drivers who never held a decent job before will defend all of this, but along with the cuts to central dispatch (ROC) being laid off it sure is a sign that things aren't heading in the right direction for the fleet.

Do you think your future will look bright coming to a company that's scraping the barrel for budget cuts?

I wonder how much of it stems from the Tracy Morgan incident

I think a lot of it stems from corporate just not wanting to deal with the fleet anymore.

You just might be hearing in upcoming years Walmart looking for student grads with the trouble they're having to hire drivers right now. But I believe they're looking more into Swift at the DC's than their own trucks. Just come here if you need a job to get by, not a job for the future.

Bingo! A friend of mine works in the office at Red Bluff. Before that he was at Porterville.
He says the same thing you said. WM will probably keep a few trucks for the local stuff but the company fleet, as it is now, is headed for the history books.
He said that Swift, or any of the mega carriers, can haul the freight so much cheaper and with much less fuss and headaches than the company trucks that it just makes sense.
Think about it...ditch the company fleet and there's no more buying and selling trucks, no more hiring and firing of drivers, no shop people or facilities, and no more massive amounts of corporate liability in the event of a crash.
Instead, they'll call a mega, tell them to pick it up here, take it over there, and send us a bill. Much easier all the way around.
I have a lot of friends driving for WalMart, working in the shop, and office people, and they're all running with a knot in their stomach, waiting for the ax to fall.

Well they fired 10000 people one day with a letter sent by fedex if you was lucky then they fire 3500 co managers on friday and according to a manager in a store by me they have a new scheduling system that is going to take out a lot of workers in the coming weeks.

Most experience drivers don’t want to go thru the boot camp hiring process. When I can get a local job that pays pretty well without the headache of that process. I’m sure Walmart pays one of the best but there are other options for us salty folk. Also when one of my former co workers has to buy a 2nd phone(u know what I mean) to work there that’s just too much BS for me.

If you want to know if a company actually values their employees use the employee bathroom. Not the one by the office the one the lowest paid employees have to use. After your done take a look in the break room. If these two things are ####ty. It's a #### company.
