You don't start with 4 weeks vacation a year...have to work up to that over a decade...several companies now pay that well now. Many companies offer better health insurance than wal mart...that means more than wages to many on here...

    0-1 year: 21 days PTO
    2 years: 23 days PTO
    3-5 years: 26 days PTO
    6-9 years: 31 days PTO

21 days PTO is 4 weeks on a 5/2. That doesn't count the 4 safety days that you can earn a year.

Yeah, but it'd still be better than working somewhere that gives raises, cheaper health insurance, pays much more, assigned trucks and holidays off. Who the heck would want all of that right?

Yes but a little clarification; you are eligible for 5days vac on your 53'rd week...along with 2 days anniversary PTO.the rest are earned by how much you run based on hours accrued on duty and driving time, same way vac time is accrued. In actuality the 21 days are what you are eligible for in that year...you only get each day as you work thru the year. A 5/2 driver should have no problem getting this unless he is off ill or family leave, leave of absence, etc. Some programs might have a problem but if you stay working...then no problem.

Yea, but the rumor for years is that is going away too, as it is too expensive and a way to cut company cost. Think about it, they are cost cutting EVERY conceivable area of the operation, why continue to pay a driver to sleep in their truck when nobody else does?

There are several companies that pay to sleep in the truck. And I wouldn't work for one that didn't.
