Probably a 3406C then. Good engine. At least as good if not better than a B imo. Some guys say they don't seem to pull as good stock as a B but thats subjective. I would definitely go check it out then. Check for corrosion damage around the front cab mounts behind the air cleaners and cab air bag mounts.

what @special-k said. Had a B and a C both great engines
Oxbow Thanks this. -
Didn’t the 3406C have cruise? This one does not.

Oxbow Thanks this.

That was the plan. I thought the Cs had electronic throttle controls. This truck does not. Maybe it was converted.

There was full mechanical C's. The one you are thinking of is called PEEC they were a partial electronic engine. Some guys had good luck with them some wanted to burn them lol

I had the 8PN C model in a 96 pete. full factory mechanical, great engine
Oxbow Thanks this. -
Unfortunately I gave up on this truck. The guy has been flakey. When I asked for the VIN last week he said he’d fax me a copy of the title, and haven’t heard a word since. He’s only sent me three blurry pictures of the truck. I’m not even sure he knows much about his own truck. Hell, maybe he doesn’t even own the truck. At first he said it was a 359, which as we all know were not made in 1993. He’s the one who contacted me, and I think it was mostly just to BS about trucks. The original truck he tried to sell me was an 84 359 that I didn’t want. Honestly I’m not sure if he ever really want to sell the 379.
Found a KW W900L instead with a 500 Detroit that’s $8000 cheaper, and has paperwork on the engine work. Was excited to get the iconic Pete with the B model cat, but it wasn’t meant to be.magoo68, Oxbow, mtoo and 1 other person Thank this.
