Spoke with a recruiter from Schneider. Same situation, stale license. No problem apply for 3 day refresher, apply for job that's available in your area, pass refresher, then get sent to orientation. For me in South Florida that means 3 weeks out 5 days home, fly to which ever OC is busy, do 3 weeks, then fly home for 5 days.

Where is your location? So many companies bend their rules on gaps in driving. Last year, if I remember correctly, Abilene Motor Express hired a driver that had been off the road 20 years. Unless they've cut the speed, their trucks are governed at 71 mph.

I know this is and old post, but its a joke when a company tells you a refresher course is needed if you take 6 months off. You can either drive or you cant-and this is just another gimmick coming down from either the company or insurance company. I took off 8 months one year and heard the same thing from a lady recruiter, and I then asked her how long she has been out of high school, after she said years and years, I told her "why you dont know anything if you been out over 6 months and that was that.
