I talked today with the person i was put up in a motel with while at trucking school to see how things were going. I wasn't sure what company he had chosen but it ended up being Werner.

He told me that he just finished last week with his trainer and is now waiting for a truck. Then problem it seems is that there are mor people than freight to be moved. He stated that they were putting 50 people through a class at a time, He also said that there were no otr jobs with them available at this time basically nothing available for northern michigan either.

I'm not sure which way to turn, maybe i will give the pumkin people a call, can't hurt right. thanks for your advice and to all the other truckers out there looking out for one another it is a brother hood. pbroad

Wow! I had not heard that! Makes sense, though, in the current freight environment. It's just not a good time to break in to the industry... I can sense your frustration. Schneider does have a hiring freeze at the moment, but you could give them a call anyway. Just stay away from CR England at all costs.

I searched NTB and found where you were talking about just starting out with them this past july i believe. It sounds like they are treating you very well, do the have any other terminals in michigan.

I live in alpena so for me to drive that in my personal vehicle every time my time was up would be ludicrous , they sound like a good company but i dought they would even look at me because of where i live. please give me soom feedback on this and let me know what you have found out. thanks for the info. pbroad

THANKS, I'm going to stay in touch with a fellow student and see how werner takes care of him. All in all he had nothing bad to say about their orientation and the driver trainer that he had other than the fact that he made around three hundred dollars a week and that the driver trainer that he was with had weekends off which meant he was stuck in a motel room in Missouri for two days a week for six weeks eating up what little money that he did make.

I guess that comes with the territory and that you just have to suck it up being new and all. Any way i definitely will keep all posted thanks again to all who have responded to my questions, its greatly appreciated.

JUST THOUGHT THAT I WOULD LET YOU AND EVERYONE ELTSE KNOW THAT MY BUDDY WHO TRAINED WITH WERNER IS STILL WITH OUT A TRUCK. ITS BEEN NEARLY TWO WEEKS WITH NOTHING BUT AN EMPTY PROMISS.

THEY MEANING WERNER ARE DOING ONLY ONE THING AND THAT IS TO GET AS MANY PEOPLE THROUGH THIER PROGRAM AND ON THE ROAD WITH A DRIVER TRAINER FOR ONE THING AND ONE THING ONLY AND THAT IS TOO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF YOU BECAUSE THEY ARE GETTING TEAM DRIVERS FOR BASICALY THE PRICE OF ONE. AFTER YOUR TRAINING IS DONE THERE IS ANOTHER FIFTY PEOPLE WAITING IN THE WINGS HOPEING TO MAKE A LIVING DRIVING TRUCK BUT IN THE END THEY FIND THAT THEY WERE WASTING TIME. [IMG]

THIS IS MY OWN TAKE OF WHAT IS GOING ON, WHAT DO YOU ALL THINK, ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE.

That seems to be the theme now from reading some of these recent posts of people coming out of school and joining the waitline
