Good advice. From 28.000 to 28.100 is restricted to non-voice operations, like Morse, radioteletype, weak signal work, beacons, and digital modes. A voice signal there will stick out like a sore thumb.

Handlebar...I just used that freq as an ex dude..

Yeah i got a 50 ohm dummy load and a new meter to chk how much reflected wattage..Also a cheap 2ft jumper coax but weather has not been in my favor as of my time at home to do much.. -
The weather shouldn't affect testing with a dummy load. If there's enough slack on the antenna end of the coax, you could pull it into the cab to keep rain off it while you test it that way. I know, a lot of my suggestions probably sound simplistic, but pretty often I catch myself getting tunnel vision with a problem until someone else at the shop takes a fresh look at what I'm doing and suggests something that makes me want to to a face-palm

We had some vold cold temps and snow even freezin rain..Dont feel like messin around at those times...Got other stuff i can do instead of freezin my fingers off or gettin soaked..

Well....I tested a crappy 2 ft jumper, fresh coax(cheap amphinal ends rg58a/u)and an old piece of lmr 240....The 240 came closest to what i wanna see compared to testing direct(dbl male pl259)....Ill post pics of old cable but direct to ant was a lil better..
