Swift Team driving.. How is the money?

I'd bet most teams don't see too many 6500 mile weeks either.
And you know I was talking about individual miles - not combined as a team.

Individual miles aren't tracked; each driver gets half pay for the total miles run.

True; miles each driver runs is comparable to solo. We typically ran around 5000 miles a week on the national hazmat team account. The difference is in the cents per mile. New solo drivers get 36 CPM; the same driver running team gets 50 CPM split, or 25 cents per each of those 5000 miles.

As to the OP's question, only the individual can decide if it's worth it. I personally prefer to team; my occasional co-driver gets worn out after 4-6 weeks. So I mentor, which I also love to do, and we team on occasion when we need to get somewhere quickly. (Like running from New York to Texas to take home time.)

As for your question, Moose, I'm doing fine. I'm currently running Walmart dedicated out of Johnstown, NY. I spent the summer running Walmart or of Cleburne, TX... that seems to be a bit backwards.

 

If you want to team drive, go LTL. Old dominion or Estes or Saia. You go terminal to terminal only, and you'll start out making $95,000-$100,000 a year just for being out Mon-Fri and home weekends. Once you top out, you're looking at about $120,000-$130,000 a year
You'll be doing 6000+ miles a week, every week no problem.

 

What is a driver leader ???

Swift is not worth it.

 

Driver Leader = Driver Manager, if that helps.
The DL/DM is the one the driver has the most direct contact with at the company. They are the person that handles everyday issues that come up.

That second comment is too ignorant to respond to properly.

 

Maybe the responder is to ignorant to figure it out.

 

If it’s a driver leader ... he has direct knowledge of his fleet that he monitors on his board. He should know exactly what his teams are making.

Unless you are having sex with your co-driver and your paychecks both go into the same account I would advise against it.
