under the bunk, center section, you should see a long black metal cover as deep as that section , about 4 or so inces wide. Inside is the wabasto or espar bunk heater. that thing will roast you out. controls are on the desk area wall under the main truck hvac controls for the bunk.

fairly self explainatory. next time you stop look into that. keep you nice and toasty til you turn the truck in. Key HAS to be in the off position, may still work with aux position. cant recall.

This kind of thinking is so twisted, it's scary.
If I was fair enough to give them two weeks notice, would it at least be reciprical to not leave me stranded as well?
That so many people share your thoughts is exactly the reason why we as drivers are nothing more than pieces of meat to these large companies; and the same goes for us as a society to allow ourselves to be treated so poorly by the corporations that employ us.
It's this kind of attitude of complete, cowardly, 'surrender' that's lowering the standards of living for all of us.

 

If you can't afford to get back home. You shouldn't be in trucking. If you quit, you should find your own way home.

So self reliance is cowardly? What's lowering the standards of living is expecting someone else to provide for you. You surrender when your dependent on someone else. So go ahead and rely on the company to provide for you.

The problem isn't my way of thinking it's your lack of NOT thinking ahead and taking responsibility for your self.

As I said in the post it'd be nice if they give you a bus ticket home but hey you probably expect a plane ticket.

Take responsibility for yourself.

a difference in trucking vs other jobs is company assets are wide and varied. their responsibility is to secure their property.

Some drivers have shown the necessity of getting them out of the truck asap before any further damage is done..

if a driver is so shortsighted as to not plan carefully their exit, their action earns that result...... they just might learn something for next time......

 

What about the driver that was a good employee for at least a couple years. Did his job, was on time, took care of the equipment, didn't tear up anybody else's stuff either...?

I do think that guy should at least get routed to the terminal closest to home. As long as the parting is on good terms, that's not unreasonable is it?
