I feel for you on the tired of linehaul stuff. 5 years the same interstate I tapped out a lot sooner then you. A lot of people thought I was crazy to leave an easy gig that paid well. Yup all the rules. Cams aren't bad but some of these LTL's play with it like a new toy. I gotcha here's a write up. Lol. I have a cam but I haven't set one off in almost a year.

Everyone thinks linehaul is the holy grail. It's a good living but a lot of time sacrifice. There are drivers that drive for UPS making 100k+ that are miserable as hell.

I'm a lot happier now doing foodservice then my linehaul job believe it or not. Also I find myself with more time off cause I don't press the issue to work all the time. I don't mind the pay cut. Except for this week but I was given the option. Dang Super Bowl.

When I did my dot physical first time in years I had high bp. Think a lot had to do with the LH job. So that made my decision easier to leave.

Just make sure you can take the pay cut if you decide to leave. Don't jump ship at the first opportunity. Make sure you know it's right. You got a lot at stake vs a new guy or even a 10year guy.

Good luck on what you decide to do.

Thanks man I really appreciate the comeback. Yeah I'm still relatively young at 45 I'd say I have a good 20 years to go that's one of the reason I'm thinking about the change. Yeah linehaul is not the greatest thing anymore it's great money but that is it. I agree with having cameras in the truck facing out but our company is not union and they are using it against now. Write ups for following to close guys have been wrote up for picking up phone. The video picks up the reflection off the windshield. The constant sound of beepers going off. The camera goes off if you brake to hard and if you jerk the steering to hard. It' a telematic it tells on you for everything. Yeah I'm sure if I do make the jump some people will think I'm crazy. It's just not for me anymore to much traffic and crazy drivers out on the big road. Thanks again.

Just wanted to say thanks for the positive comebacks. I have decided to stay where I'm at I have way to much to lose. I will just take a deep breath change my driving style and truck on!

If you can live happily without struggling at hauling trash and you think it'll be happier life there, make the move. Sounds like it wouldn't be bad.
