A pre pass won't do you any good if the company you work for has a crappy safety record.. You'll just be getting RED lights on the Pre Pass anyhow.... As a company driver you shouldn't have to pay for anything on the truck.. That's the companies job..
I could see them deducting a security deposit on their equipment though.. (I have a $100 deposit on my Pre Pass.. I am an O/O).Joetro Thanks this. -
Let's look at it this way. Not each driver using that Prepass has contributed to Roehl's great safety rating that rarely gets us pulled into scales. That $1 is to use their name to save yourself some time and aggrevation.
But it's still a scam. Anyone want to take a guess as to how much extra fuel I'd use a week if I had to stop at every scale? How about all 1800 trucks they have on the road? -

well i would pay it in a heartbeat. Look at all the time in line at the toll booth, your 14 hr clock just a ticking. 20 mins in the scales if all goes well. what ever you are charged is 100% tax deductable and you dont have to pull money out of you pocket to pay these high toll rates. Penny wise and pound foolish!

schneider charges $50 for kingpin and load locks and its yours to keep when you leave which makes sense when you figure it makes it the drivers fault when they dont put a kingpin lock and that load of plasma tv's gets stolen when he dropped the trailer at the pilot down the street from his house. now a buck for ezpass, 60 miles an hour at .40 cpm (enter your pay here) means that if ez pass saves me 3min per month at scales then it just paid for its self (not to mention that stupid oops log violation for not filling out a block and getting a barney fife for a dot officer theres 500 bucks)

I was in the office of a CEO and owner of a major furniture manufacture over .25 a week, for 3 weeks in a row.
You call it petty.
I call it, Calling a thief out for stealing from me, and 2000 other employees.
Spineless people deserve to get robbed. 1999 other employees were perfectly happy with their boss stealing $26,000 a year out of THEIR pockets. But hey...they got a free turkey at Christmas, really?
You give a SOB a dollar today, he'll steal 100 tomorrow...as noted in another post about refunding the deposit, within this thread.
The $1 fee for the EZ pass saves the company thousands of dollars each year, company wide. When you factor in fuel savings, time savings, wear and tear on the truck.
A cheap ### company...will always find ways to steal from it's employees. -
