Kwik Trip in Wilson, x28 always has parking and showers are only $8. I never use the J in Roberts anymore, it's always a fuster cluck.

43 degrees and sunny in Shawnee GA! Gonna be headed to Pryor OK from here. Not too often I get to head west from this area.

I liked to stop at x45. Good choices at that exit too.
If I needed a shower I usually stopped in Alexandria x100In MN or Black River Falls x116 or Mauston x69 in WI depending on clock and route
@Woobie is right....That Roberts J is always FUBAR

I think most of your loads head west from there... just depends if it’s NW or SW :)

Yeah, I learned my lesson on roberts. I thought getting in was tight, getting out was worse. Good thing the guy to the right of me left before me.

Anyone know how good the stock cb antennas are? Its looking like I'll need to buy better antennas to get the most out of this cb. I believe I calibrated and tuned my cb correctly per a youtube video.

The stock antennae work fine for me. There will always be some people crystal clear and some people so fuzzy you can’t understand anything. It’s just the nature of radio waves. Give it a bit before you buy anything else in regards to the CB. I didn’t get mine tuned or anything... it’s not necessary. Unless you really want to. Everything stock is just fine for getting traffic updates and whatnot. I just put mine on channel 19 and forget about it.

As for the Roberts truck stop... I parked there once for a 10. There was a snow bank in front of me. By the time I woke up, I obviously had trucks on either side of me. It was super tight. Also someone parked right in front of me (us) like an idiot. So I had to wake him up to move... then because of the snow bank I couldn’t get out, so I had to wake up the guy next to me to move... but it was so tight, my trailer would have swung out and hit the other guy, so I had to wake him up to move... then when I was pulling out my trailer brakes were frozen... so I had to fix that while the guys on either side of me I had to wake up we’re waiting on me... it was not fun. I hate that place because of that one time all that happened. But hey... at least I didn’t hit anything lol

Their the idiots that caused the whole problem. Let them wait. Maybe next time, well, never mind.

If the radio has been peaked and tuned and you’ve calibrated it correctly try using the stock antennas. IF you get the red illuminated Antenna light (like I did) think about replacing the antennas before you burn the radio up! I had to replace my stock antennas and another driver was leaving and he graciously gave me his Firesticks, they’ve been good replacements.

Thats pretty much how I felt zata, I didnt hit anything, so win. Never will do that stop again unless I make it in early and get one of the good spots.

The cb was tuned correctly and swr is good. No antenna red dot. I was questioning my distance but I should be hitting some where between 5-7 miles, maybe 8. I asked if anyone in hebron could pick me up when I was 8 miles out and a driver said yup but not sure if I believe it. All in all, having a cb is nice when coming up to accidents or reporting them to fellow truckers. Did both those today. I also enjoy the banter. Jerry! Jerry! Jerry!

One thing to keep in mind if anyone is changing antennas...the mirror antennas on modern trucks are more than just cb antennas. If you use the FM or WX radio, many have multiplexed antennas that serve the radio and cb.
