    Ah... my bad!!

I read it, that you were saying that cataract surgery was not necessary. Not that AFTER surgery, you still qualify.

Yes... I still qualify. Heck, my vision with only one eye done is 20/15! I haven't had that kind of vision my whole life!

Anyway, I read your 1st reply wrong, or saw a different meaning. ;-)

Its all good. I no longer drive because I have epilepsy. I had cataract surgery in my left eye in 2015. Actually brought my vision in that eye to 20 20. I expect to need cataract surgery in my right eye in 2019. Cataract surgery actually improves eyesight in that eye.

Ouch! Epilepsy huh? Now that's hard! Sorry about all that driver!

And yes, cataract surgery is a great way to restore your vision! And these implanted lenses will last forever! One funny thing I learned is... an optometrist was asked how long the lenses will last? He responded... "250 to 10000 yrs! But no matter the exact timeframe, They'll dfinitely outlast you!"

LoL don't feel sorry for me! :biggrin_255:

When I have my seizures I take trips that are so much better then being on drugs. Kind of like this song.

Mine was really good while still in recovery, halos the first night.

I agree its my Dr., that told just to go to Wally World, but I had planned on taking my old glasses in to them and having custom lenses installed, you for reading and maybe 1 for morning into the sun kind of driving, max protection.

I was only told to wear the eye protection the first night, but I wore safety glasses on my own for a couple of days till the second office visit. the other lifting was the same, My drops for the first eye ends today, and starts the second eye then surgery of Thursday.
So far out of pocket 80 bucks for the co-pay

I'd suggest anyone going thru it if needed. It simply ain't no big deal... but, like I said already... the results are awesome!!

You have or had a history of Epilepsy? That pretty much kills the driving doesnt it?

When I had my right eye done, it was about a 16000 dollar surgery and a steel patch was installed for three days. The biggest instruction of anything was not to lift a #### thing.

The following day I had to break lug nuts loose to change a tire. I got away with it that time. But it was not welcome of all things.

Before I had surgery, the blindness progressed over about 20 months, the most significant problem were two, at night light sources had a halo and by day tree lines were doubled due to a particular flaw in my 4th left nerve palsy. Prior to surgery with new lens, I contemplated end of life because that was not a good place to be so it's way better now than I was ever.

One of my grandparents developed them really bad in the eyes, it progressively scarred over them completely. To be honest with you, I don't know how that one endured being blind because in those days there wasnt any medical work that could be done at that time to fix it. I hate to think the last 9 years with it was not a very good existence. Despite 24/7 care etc.

I took up shooting and resumed bowling as a sort of defiance towards where I was when I was blind before surgery. And actually discovered that I did well after the surgeon presented me with a fixed length lens that made the front sight perfect with or without glasses.

I intend to renew the prescription soon which did change, I will be installing blue light defenses among other things to the glasses. And we will attempt a prescription for the curved shooting glasses from Revision and Company that will be a challenge.

Yep, all driving. Virginia stripped me of ALL my driving privileges. I have a good network of friends and HRT (bus service) here is mostly safe and cheap. I miss driving, but understand why I can't. I have epilepsy I am taking 3 different kinds of meds to combat the seizures. My biggest problem is every few days an injury shows up somewhere on my legs and arms. I don't remember the falls. It some point I am going to need nursing care 24/7. I just don't worry about it much anymore. I have a good friend that works in a local carriers safety dept that helps me get groceries etc etc.

I was 20/20 the day after surgery, This not like recovery of most other surgery's, my acl repair took a year of pt, this was immediate, clear vision in the recovery room.
