OK so I have a nice International 9400 that I use 8 months a year to transport my Carnival Show. It sits in the Winter and I want to put it to work. I have my own authority and am fully insured. I also have a 45 foot dry van in really nice shape. I would like to go OTR and only drive around 1500 miles a week max. I do not mind sitting where I land for a few days before I go again. I would also consider power only, but would rather use my trailer. I know I need a niche market so...what advice do y'all have for me? Thanks, DD

Find a company/broker that manages logistics for concerts/truck shows/etc. You may have to run power only, but otherwise it checks the boxes for you.

Maybe hire on with some mail hauler outfit. I don't know of any other company that would load a 45 ft. trailer. Probably have to use their trailer.
Google for some intermodal/drayage companies in Dallas; they use owner-operators to pull containers.

Lease the truck on somewhere that doesn't have forced dispatch and rent a trailer from them or source one on your own. A 45' is going to problematic due it's short length for most load board freight. It's all about the 53' and the occasional 48' these days.

EDIT: I just noticed you mentioned being insured already. I'd rent a trailer and pull load board freight if I were you.

That 45' trailer is useless. Get rid of it and get a 53'. Don't waste your money on a dispatch service. Self dispatching one truck isn't rocket science. Learn a handful of lanes. It takes time to know what is or isn't a decent rate, what going rates are, etc. Get a load board subscription and dive into it. Again, do not try to run all lower 48 states or you will never learn anything of value about a handful of specific lanes. Run a region of 15-20 states or less and learn those lanes like the back of your hand.
