Does any one know what causes this? It is a 05 Mack which has the two cap plastic tank. The lower cap has what looks like oil snot on it. Bad oil cooler? But the top cap has what looks like smut or exhaust. However when smeared on card board it feels like grease. Coolant looks clear.
Truck surges and smokes on take off.

Sure looks like soot. Is this an AI or AC engine? Possible EGR cooler on AC engine. I have had more trouble with transmission coolers leaking than engine oil coolers leaking.
BoxCarKidd Thanks this. -
AC. Wondered if EGR could be leaking and mixing soot with oil in the cooling system. That just seems like an awfully odd dog to me. I will have to check out the trans cooler however fluid is good.

Check out big mack trucks forum they might be able to help out more. I think over there you can talk about how to "fix" your egr

Driver using and used oil jugs to add water surely helped out. Probably has an egr cooler problem also.

I was wondering about cross contamination. Had a driver put fuel additive in coolant that looked like that.
BoxCarKidd Thanks this.
