I much rather prefer the 'only my problem from pre-trip to post-trip' route. I'm not taking her home. This isn't a love affair & it isn't going to become a marriage.
Shortly put: I wish O/O's & new parents great luck. Honestly. So many of each new party suck so much ### tho, that I have next to no faith in either where it concerns their success.
Glad I had the Patience.

Sounds like your doing it right. But always remember pay the truck and stuff first. Your last and don't try to take the $$ from the truck. And you have a better chance of making it.
So many think Man I have $15,000.00 in that account. I have not used it in months. Need to buy this or that! (NO) Need to take that big Vacation! (NO)!!!!!
Even though you can and could get the cash out. That can and will turn your dream into a Nightmare overnight.sexyredhead and blairandgretchen Thank this. -
Budgets are a main problem.
As in sticking to them. Putting money aside for routine maintenance, saving for tires or building captiol spending.
Maintenance is the one that will take you out quick.
Have to be at least a dozen people I know that put of basic services for months and months, only to seriously damage something.
Know one former O/O that went 8 months with out changing oil because of funds. my guess is it will be about 18 months to get the money together to replace the engine.blairandgretchen and sexyredhead Thank this. -
What company you work for? -
I have heard the " I don't want that head ache" so often, but if you due some planning and use your head for more than a hat rack, it could be the best thing in your life. I get to relive life through the discoveries of my son and have bettered myself intellectually so I am better able to answer his questions.
The truck has pushed me into a area outside of my comfort zone and I have learned much, a lot of it thanks to the great people here on TTR.
The day we stop growing and stop learning is the day we should be planted in the ground...sexyredhead, bigtravelr, blairandgretchen and 1 other person Thank this. -
I am not sure how many saw I was Canadian and if the rate matters as to that. I run the midwest out of Ontario and this week I slept in the truck once. I do run hard and did a Lansing,Mi Monday then off to Belvidere,Il. then a St.Catherines,On. I get paid 1st and the 15th so I ended pay today. First week I started Tuesday so not a full pay period(9 days worked). I ended Fuel at $2100, Insurance $600, Plates $150, Tolls $420, Faxes $2, Pay $1200. So expenses total $4472. I grossed $8558 on 3246 miles. So $4086 or $3273 U.S dollars lol into the maintenance account. I am happy so far. I did work hard as he tends to book me expedited loads so it needs to get there now. I bought all the amenities to be prepared for the road but the day I slept in the truck I turned nothing on and slept hard. I do see an issue I will start tracking... where to sleep? Wow after 8p.m. is a nightmare in the midwest.
blairandgretchen Thanks this. -
With all due respect, from one childless member to another,
It’s possibly one of the most depressing things I’ve read in a while.
Well, aside from being a parent of that little school shooting monster in Florida today, that is.
