We have a similar program locally for families living on low incomes. Up to $1200 monthly. Problem is depending on individual, good chance they look at that $1200 as a NEW PICKUP TRUCK PAYMENT!

Hadn't heard about that. You're talking about this I'm guessing.

1200 would be pretty good right now.

Basic income is a possibility in the future, no strings attached. If i had 1200 monthly added to my current income, I will tell you the US Economy will look really good on my end.

Where would the money come from? Well, tax the robots and computers that do the work as if they are productive citizens. Based on work hours. That will provide much of the income. You can bill em 100% of work hours in tax and it will just be a line item expense against a overall company production revenue.

In fact some of that 1200 would cause several other programs for medicines etc to no longer be needed. Shrinking expenses up the line to Congress even more. That should be good for something.

Give people 500 bucks a month, no strings attached, and trust they are resilient and will do the right thing for their families? I don't see what could go wrong with that.

And who's expected to pay these payments? The bulk of the tax liability impact will fall onto the local blue collar workers who barely manage to take care of their own families by getting up and going to a job that does not pay well.

Local governments don't have access to forests of "money trees" and being a sanctuary city, good luck getting a federal bailout from the Trump administration [or me as a federal taxpayer]

I'm sure the local casinos are looking forward to the influx of cash from a new class of customer.
