I like a general lee. The guy across from ta in nj on 295 got me a whole setup for 400$. No amp, but it does talk pretty good, very clear, listens pretty good too.
When I'm back through there I'll get him to set it up again in my new truck. He programs the antenna and cuts it to proper length and all that stuff.

Best I ever had was a raduo shack 23 channel radio. I don't remember the model number. But remember you changed the channels by a button on the mic. They made it ike that so you could hide it when you installed. As back in 1976 they became a common reason to have your cat window broked8and radio stolen. After that best i had was a galaxy 88. Had it peaked tuned it had upper, lower, and side channels. Had a 259 watt amp. It was matched up to a pair of Francis firesticks. But some jackals decided he needed it more than I did. Then i went with a uniden pc76 made in the Phillipines. Still have that one, but no ne today can work on it. Due to the (whatever it is electronic board I had installed in the 90's) I cold have it stripped out, then it would be stick and start over again. But instead I went with cobra 29 wt. Had it peaked tuned echo talk back. No power box, and single Wilson antenna. To the op go with a cobra 29 to begin with. Talk to guys around the area you run the most. Find a decent radio shop (most today are hacks) have it peaked tuned and matched to antennas. Turn it on every ime you get in truck. Turn volume down, and squelch up. So you won' hear every little noise. But believe me it will come alive and you WILL no about. That huge wreak up ahead, in time to slow or stop. Instead of being part of it. Maybe in time you wI'll get into it. Then you will find out how to skip shoot, and talk to people 1000's of miless away. For some reason peoplease in great Britain and Australia are the easiest to get in contact with.

Mover, that I bet is a trc-52 which had great receive and could have pretty good audio. I have a trc-152 set up as a test bed for experiments, it is a great chassis.
