I agree...the reason he works that hard is because it takes that many miles to make a decent paycheck at their mileage rate.

As much as I dislike C&S, it’s a Kellogg’s load and they sent a pallet of the wrong product. 2nd time they’v done that to me here (always on a going home load). Waiting to be told where to take it.

Why would you work here if you could work at a small company get 2800 miles a week and get home every weekend.

Perhaps some of us don't want to be home every weekend.

    Deadwood and 48Packard Thank this.

It took a while to get used to being home everyday.
I’m putting up a new House this year, I may get an old hound dog or two to watch the place when I’m at work.

Dna Mach and 48Packard Thank this.

I ran OTR because with my kids all living about 3 1/2 hours away, getting home for just the weekend often wasn’t enough for us.

I love how some guys cling to the “money is the only thing that matters” and/or the “one size fits all” philosophies.

How long ago was it this way at Crete? I've been here almost 10 years, and i started as a student. Just curious.

It’s about trade offs and picking what you want.

Current job is embarrassingly easy. A busy week is 2,200 miles and earning $65-$70K. Small company, very well funded, with good equipment.

The catch? We only get 15 days off per year (plus one week vacation). Sounds rough but the last four days I’ve driven all of 300 miles so “working” doesn’t really feel like working. Goofing off in Philadelphia for the weekend and loading on Monday.

    48Packard Thanks this.

From where I live a home every weekend job tends to be burn up your 70 in five and a half days, reset at home and repeat for less money then I make now. Despite some short comings, this company has been decent to work for.
