I'm not sure. I believe that insurance companies rates also depends on what State you are based, however I also made mistakes and I also had drivers working for me and my safety rate was bad. I had to make a firm decision. I fired my drivers and I sold my other 2 trucks. I'm an O/O with 1 truck/reefer company. I drive when I want. I don't have to go places or take loads that I don't want to and I run for decent amount of money. Since I've driving for myself, my safety rate is great and my insurance cost is under 800.00 per month. Translate this for me, please " que prefiere ser en la vida? cabeza de raton o cola de leon?
I rather be a mouse's head. I love my freedom.

This absolutely blows my mind. The "technical" nature of DOT inspections are so open to interpretation, that a DOT officer having a bad day could hear a noise and call it an air leak. Happened to me. Mechanics found nothing that I know of to this day. But, I got a DOT slam. It's amazing how technicalities, that really have nothing to do with safety, have the potential to destroy your career.

An O/O always pays for liability & cargo insurance. My company says they pay it but it's built into the % they keep. If this company paid for it out of the 10% they keep they wouldn't make any money. At least this way FW gets to write it off as opposed to this of us that pay it as part of the % the company keeps.

As long as you see the value in the money they keep, that's all that matters. When that value diminishes is when you'll get your own numbers. I look forward to following your journey here.

If by jacked up you mean strong, then yes. I pull reefer and it has been going strong since getting my own authority last April. I don’t do a lot of long haul stuff. I’ve been bouncing around in the North East all week and I’m making 1150 dollars a day average over those 5 days. I’ve only been driving 375 miles a day average. My only slow month was December, and that was only because of the holidays.
