Check out the connections to the wire harnesses common problem with the Pete harness weight pulling down on the connection. Lol. Lots of luck

They will let it sit there two days until they look at it if in a big town. Small shops are the way to go especially with antique stuff like mine!

The scan gauge is getting the correct readings from the ECM, I’m going to guess it reads off either the crank or cam sensor (both replaced).

    Results -

Called 5 different instrument/cluster/tach repair places. None will work on it. The last guy said they couldn’t get parts or schematics for them.

Peterbilt has one coming next week for $203.

Some of their prices can be a little ‘inflated ‘ - and you rarely get pricing that the fleets do. I get it - it’s business.

I always try to beat around for other solutions if it makes sense to do so.

On my 379 with a kitty it reads off the flywheel if I remember correctly.

Hmmm. Maybe I should check that sensor out before going further. It has one bottom side of the bell housing . . . Running a S60Detroit.

That’s what they told me also. To replace the sensor of the flywheel housing.

That's correct tachometer read from the bell. Housing speedometer and road speed governor read from the tail shaft
