I am interested in starting with Roehl Transportation and attending their GYCDL program, so I have been asking questions in a few threads. If you see new posts asking about Roehl, it will probably be me asking. The more responses from Roehl driver's the better.

I received this reply to a question on another website but wanted to ask here if the following is factual.

    Quote:
"A warning regarding Roehl. The promised me 2,500+ miles, or $1,000per week. After four months I hadn't hit that mark and asked Jeff M, my fleet manager, why I wasn't hitting that mark. He said that they didn't apply to new drivers."

Now this may have many variables including the driver, but from the context, it seems he is looking for miles, but a Roehl recruiter/FM may have been deceptive to him. Thoughts?

I don’t think they PROMISED him. I’m guessing they told him something like, “expect an average of 2500 miles...”. If he took that as a promise then he’s an idiot.

People are always saying they promised me this or that. Drives me crazy. The only promise i would make is that there are NO promises.

Roehl is a good company. I started with them and had no regrets at all. You won’t get rich, but your first year should be focused on learning and gaining experience. Worry about getting rich later.

They do have a contract to drive 120, 000 miles for full tuition reimbursement. I can always pay the tuition and leave. Same with other "training" companies. Swift's is 3950 + 750 motel. Millis has the cheapest tuition so I am looking into them also for training.

Millis training is top notch. Very good company, and plenty of miles to be had. Students fresh out of school on their trainers truck make really good money. Fee free to ask me, or the other Millis guys here, any questions. Read the couple Millis threads here and you'll get a pretty good idea about how good Millis is. Where you located?

I'd go Millis, And I did 6-7 yrs ago. Used them to get back my cdl which I had let go back in 95.
Stayed about 18 mo. and moved on to tankers.
I have nothing bad to say about Millis, Treated well, Just not enough miles running regional

Regional is hit and miss anymore. Winter months slows down, but once spring hits I've heard there are plenty miles on Midwest regional now. Plus they now offer .04cpm on Midwest if make yourself available every other wkend. Even if dont work the wkend cuz no freight you still get the .04cpm. Helps make up for the lower miles.
