Going around is easy, not sure about the permitted load though..
That could get expensive real quick..
Once in a while DOT will sit down there at the bottom by the 66 split..Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -

They had my number and constantly pushed my buttons to where I simply said ok Dumfries is dead to me. US 15 here I come. I did not do anything "Wrong" but that kind of structured behavior when there is not yet anything to actually enforce...
Now WInchester aint half bad. Much. Sterling City is the one with my name on it especially after I dropped their scale. I actually held a virginia permit for no less than 100K meaning to anyone in weigh scales in VA it's going to be a 5 figure number for both Maryland and VA provided that is a load going onto a ship.
The day I broke the scales they laughed. That permit I bleated about and waved it in the paperwork only caused them to laugh at me harder saying little boy what you don't know kills us so much to write what we are about to write against your company.
I started working on ways to work around the virginias entire weight system at that point. Not exactly going out of my way to do it. The biggest thing was to GTFO out of seacans before something REALLY happened bad.Dave_in_AZ Thanks this. -
Of course it was a BS inspection he said I had a light out on my trailer is why he pulled me over.
When we walked back there the light was back on, imagine that like magic it worked again...., F Virginia DOTDave_in_AZ and Logan76 Thank this. -

Stop believing truckers stories, most are not worth the time it consumed by listening
Logan76, 06driver, Tall Mike and 1 other person Thank this. -
I had my own VA trouble this year but no weight involved. And since it takes upwards of 5 business days to get a VA superload permit - I am pretty sure they are not going to route around a scale.
So being off route to avoid a scale is something that is very likely to get your permit voided.Dave_in_AZ, Logan76, kylefitzy and 5 others Thank this.
