What happened when you put the regular gas into the
Super tank. Did they just leave it there and Change the
    Price at the pump.
I don't see how it could hurt anything.

In my case. We pumped it out and replaced it with 91 non oxy. Not sure what they did with it after that.

It would end up as what they call trasmix and recycled for another use.

I've had to do the first delivery after a cross dump, makes you feel like the boss trusts you not to F up. Unfortunately the owner and customers give you the side eye the whole freaking time lol.

No, we had to pump the super over to the reg tank and sell the reg when it was really super. We brought a load of super out to the station to make sure they had super. So the people got really good gasoline for a short while.

Transmix is the blend of product in the pipeline where two different products meet. They used to use water slugs between gasoline and diesel but I believe they stopped doing that. Transmix is sold back to the refinery and you can not sell gasoline with ethanol in it because ethanol is not a petroleum product.

Anytime the blends got messed up they would call it transmix and pump it off the truck.

Maybe so but try to sell it back to the refinery. Ethanol is a grain and not a petroleum product. In Las Vegas when CalNev had the tank farm they would be real sticklers about only have petroleum into their tranmix. I sure Colton had the same rules and I know San Diego did. Fredericksen had a semi truck where the driver loaded reg with ethanol on top of diesel. The trailer sat in their yard for about a month before they could decide what to do with it. In all reality the load was hazardous waste but nobody wanted to pay all those dollars to ship it off. I know what they did and it wasn't inline with there own instructions.

There used to be a refinery in the Bay Area that would take transmix, cross drops, water contaminated, just about anything you could think of. They wouldn't pay anything for it but at least you could get rid of it.
Back in the early 70s a logging outfit bought diesel from them that was contaminated with 90wt gear oil. They bought ten loads of it.
They ran it in their Cats, road graders, and loaders. Good thing they were out in the woods. There were clouds of black smoke like a steamboat and you could smell that 90wt if you got downwind of the landing . The machinery, surprisingly, ran great.

So true! Cali Kid!!!! I am new to this fuel hauling thing as well. Some of these guys are in such a hurry to get the drop going that they actually spend more time checking, double chechecking and rechecking what they already checked that everything is set up right that it starts costing them time and doubt. One guy even almost took off with a full compartment of NL fuel had I not said anything to him.

I like to get rid of my diesel first when practicable. If you don’t have sight glasses the old hand says he turns his fill cap upside down to help him remember what is what.

I have been at it a little over a month now and am learning that if you just slow down, take your time, and do it right like the old timer said, it saves you a lot more time than the guy that is rushing and wondering!

I am making better time going slow taking my time and setting it all up right and in an un rushed fashion than one of my trainers that did it going full bore.

I dropped my 8000 gallons of diesel in 35 minutes compared to his 43 minute boggie dance.

Also, An old hand of 20 years of fuel hauling that works here told me

“when your in that rack, that is your time, take whatever time it takes to get it right”

he couldn’t be more right. Take your time and do it right , do it once and things will speed up with routine and experience. No one gets in a hurry to get out of your way so why should you pay the price of a mess up for someone else, besides things go so much smoother when your not under that kind pressure and stress!

The world is not going to end if you spend a whole five more minutes in the rack VS a half a day fixing a screw up!

Slim51 and Cali kid Thank this.
