And then don't get ####y and think you know what you're doing. I've been breezing along, thinking "I got this" then POW reality kicks you in the arse. Last night I started loading 2000 gallons into a 1000 gallon compartment. Fortunately I was back checking myself and realized it. I just let it flow until it hit 1000, shut it down, switched the head and put the rest into the 2000 gallon compartment it was intended for in the first place. Then loaded the other 1000 in that compartment to get to 2000. I also have a bad habit of doing the math in my head. I loaded 8800, instead of 8600 because I was a little off in the math, now I say to myself, "use a calculator dummy!"

I could not possibly disagree with drivinnryan’s post more. When your unloading, take all the time you want.......when your under the rack, be compentent, load your truck, and get out of there. No one wants to wait behind you forever making no money at all while you take your time. I’ve been doing this for 8 years and it’s not hard to load your truck fast in a timely matter and get out of everyone else’s way. Like I said earlier in this thread I’ve never had a product mix
I get if your new, you wanna be safe, i do understand that, but I hope your not still taking your sweet time under the rack when you have experience and making everyone wait behind you when you spend a half hour for what should take 15 minutes. Incompetent fuel haulers make me wanna puke. If you can’t evenually become compentent while being safe you probably shouldn’t be hauling fuel at all
I’m not trying to be mean at all but cmon man. Load your truck. We are not brain surgeons or rocket scientist. It’s not THAT hard to load your truck without screwing upLast edited: Mar 1, 2018

Was not trying to be mean or anything. I understand safety is the most important part of our job. I just hate that attitude (not saying your attitude, just the attitude i deal with every day at the rack) where fellow drivers are either
A. Extremely incompetent and probably shouldn’t be hauling fuel
B. ######## that don’t care about anyone else’s time around them
and spend way too much time loading their truck. It is by far my biggest pet peeveDrivin' Ryan Thanks this. -

I’m guessing most of you fuel haulers are paid by the load ?
Would hourly pay bring the cross drops and other such screw ups down a bit?
In Houston the rack wait times can be horrendous, guys get behind and move too fast trying to make up for lost time and cross drop.
When I hauled fuel we had a guy on nights put diesel into regular 87 tank at a station that was closed. He didn’t tell anyone, just resigned knowing he’d be fired. But the station ended up screwing up 11 cars before they figured out what happened and the company had to pay all the repairs.
