It looked like it was gonna be another bust of a weekend. But....just before I abandoned all hope for getting anything else this paycheck, dispatch sent me a load that has me pulling an empty trailer from Church Hill to Spring Hill. Then picking up a load to Longview TX. Will end up being a good week...and, the State Department sent me an email saying my passport is approved, printed and will be at casa de snackbar by mid-week. So, if I can get a load by the house to pick it up, I can start having the option of Canada when the domestic loads slow down. I may survive this after all...:laughing-guffaw:

On my empty trailer move from Church Hill to Spring Hill, I pulled one of our double drops

(Looks like this empty) (this isn't me BTW) Screenshot_2017-11-10-15-23-50.png
I am always amazed at just how much crosswind those empty a-frames catch. With this latest weather system coming thru, it generated a bunch of wind. Rolling an empty, 800ish miles, it was a handfull at times. Almost as if I were pulling an empty van/reefer.

One thing I like about how they pay here is on reloads. Last week, I pulled a rolling rack load to PA and back. Other than getting use to pulling one of our few remaining old 53' vans, those loads are as easy as it gets. Back in, undo the ratchet binders and chains, and watch the forklift driver unload, and watch the top of the glass when it gets to the ramp for him so it doesn't hit. Then, if there are return racks, he rolls them in, you only have to ratchet strap empties in, and roll. Easy peasy. If I haul at least 1 rack back, I get a $35 loading fee, and never have to leave the dock.

My current single drop load, Spring Hill to Longview TX and back was originally suppose to be just an empty return. This morning, I get a reload, out of the same place...same dock for rack returns. Cool!! As the Magnum gang say...thanks for steak dinner money. Although, with a flat or single drop, there is a little strapping and sometimes I have to unbolt and stow the A-frames...but even if it takes an hour or so to do... $35/hr works for me.

I kinda doubt it, I wouldn't want to get my hopes up. There are plenty of drivers here that have paid their dues thru many slow times that deserve one before me. If I can work out the bugs in this one, I am content with it.

The check engine light came on a few days ago (right after the post about it not showing any diesel in the crankcase), but it went out this morning, so all is well.

It's official....I am a passport holding seat warmer. The picture on it is way unglier than the one I sent in...I think they photoshopped it :laughing-guffaw:
