If they want to pay me to babysit a truck..I'm all for it.
Just give me a good camera with zoom.
I'll spend my days counting short skirts and pretty legs.

Lol, i think i wouldn't mind doing this as my first job out of CDL school. But the pay might be $34k net a year :/. I don't know if that's good or bad, seeing as how I'd have to do everything everyone else has to do: Be on the road, long days, long nights, truck stops, etc. etc.

Not sure if driving the truck is really what makes truck driving hard :p

    Steel Dragon Thanks this.

Yes but think of all the side job business you could conduct while the truck is in transit on auto pilot? You could set up a pretty cool chaturbate studio in a moving rig and generate a lot of extra money.

(Somebody told me about that site)

So... you'd have to hire "lizards" to come into your rig to be models... or...?

    Steel Dragon Thanks this.

Ahhhh. You know “we” need more technology to help negate the distractions that technology made in the first place!

But if if this idea where to be in full force, with no human driver, it is not a smart MACRO ECONOMIC choice.

it will be soon when the truck with the safety person is leading 5 or six other trucks behind it. they will first come for the longest miles. You can look at the places where they allow triples to be set up first. If you look at the company trucks that are being ordered they are set up for this. all they need are the steering and brake servo. I had a freightliner tech ride with me in a new cascadia that wont work right. He said the trucks with be robots soon.

Excellent point, or slick roads. As I was telling a friend a few nights ago, it’s going to be a looong time before anyone is comfortable with 80,000 pounds of explosive hazmat tanker rolling down the road by itself.

“Safety operator” or truck driver, whatever they want to call them, I think the job is safe for quite a while.

Think how easy it'd be to hijack a autonomous truck? Next they'll need security guards on them

is highway robbery a thing in the US? Why am i so out of touch with the world LOL. I thought this kind of thing only happens in third world countries.

We hear about robberies, bank robberies, grand theft auto... but I didn't think groups of thieves actually roll out in cars and corner a truck with guns
