I got on 80EB at 355 at 4:30 this afternoon and the backup for this was already 15 miles. All the way across to the Indiana-Ohio too road trying to warn guys to find another route.... 5pm, 80\94 Chicagoland, Gary... Got 5 replies.

I hope the non CB running fools are still stuck.

Do you mean to tell us that a white Volvo in Chicago has had shoddy maintenance? Unpossible!

Wow, what are the chances? Somebody's time to go. Part of driving, folks, can't have zero risk. I've always kept an eye on the median, you never know what is going to come flying across it.

What a shame. Yet what happened to the other tire? The trooper was looking at the hub removed. The tire there wasnt a super single. So some where out there is the second tire.

I'm guessing the one by the truck is the one they found. The one that hit the car is probably 1/4 mile away somewhere.

I wonder what will happen to the driver. I have heard stories about this happening and drivers doing time for manslaughter.

Might depend on the logging of a pre-trip (electro / paper), whether or not he noted defects, if he did - why he decided to drive it.... did he as the driver put in his due diligence to ensure the rig was safe? FMCSA compliant?

If he did then I think this event is just a terrible situation..... But if he doesn't have the paper trail to cover his ###, he'll probably get it roasted. As will his carrier / lessor in a wrongful death suit / manslaughter charge.

I would put lots of money on it, his paper trail has missing pieces. Without a doubt.
