    @Teamwolf
If CFI is that bad of a company, how is it that there are a number of OTR truck drivers with a lot of years under their belts?

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

I'm not going to get in if CFI is a horrible company or not. (Likely they are just a mega, that that don't care vs. actively trying to harm)
The question you asked though is a strawman. The answer is simply numbers. In an group of people there will be some that will be content with their lot in life for various reasons. Either job security, they don't like the uncertainty of job hopping, or any number of other reasons.
Just like Swift, or CRE, or JB Hunt with their 10 year drivers.... Just because a company has a few doens't mean they are not a horrible company. All it means is for those few specific people they prefer to work there vs. not.

Oi, I can’t decide if you’re being sarcastic or just woefully uninformed. This is, by no mean, “one of the worst” jobs available. There are literally millions of jobs that pay 1/6th of the salary for much harder work.

Trucking pays more than most jobs requiring a university degree. It pays more than some jobs that require multiple university degrees. I earn more than my neighbour, who has a double PhD in Bio Chem and pharmacology who works in a university lab sticking needles in animals’ eyes all day. She went to school for 14 years to get a job that pays $70k/year. I went to school for 14 days and earn $90k.

Edit: just want to add that I also graduated from university. After seeing the prospective jobs that offer $42k-$50k per year, I decided that I needed to do something to increase my odds in life. After extensive research of trades, graduate degrees, law school, etc I ended up settling in driving. $5k to get a license to earn $50k, instead of $15-$30k to earn a graduate or law degree. After 3 years, earnings went up to $60k. After 5 years, $75k. Now, 9 years in it is $90k.

    I made the right choice.

Stay away from the Mega carriers and you'd be amazed how good some of these other companies can be

This is SO TRUE, on all collar color levels: white collar, blue collar, pink collar, black collar, brown collar, green collar, and gray collar.

I can understand job security and NOT wanting to be a job hopper.

I had 2 bouts of unemployment in my life:

    1) 1st. bout was for 11 months, (5/9/1992 - 4/12/1992)
    2) 2nd. bout was for 7 months, (9/17/2006 - 4/16/2007)
I would NOT wish any type of unemployment or underemployment on my worst enemy!!

I am current working at my 9th. job in 44 years, (been in the workforce since 1974).
    1) April 17th, will be 11 years that I will have been at my current job, (since 4/17/2007).
    2) My current job is the longest that I have ever held down a job.
    3) I am currently 61, will be 62 this year.
    4) Providing that both my health and job holds out, I HOPE to be able to stick it out until age 70, to max out on Social Security and other retirement benefits.
Job hopping is NOTHING to be proud of!!

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

SADLY & UNFORTUNATELY, there are full time tractor & trailer truck drivers that earn LESS than $30,000 a year.
Several truck drivers actually showed me both their pay stubs, along with their W-2 forms.
It was literally HEARTBREAKING to see this happening to hardworking individuals driving interstate and not being home for stretches at a time.

God bless every American and their families! God bless the U.S.A.!

This is the honest truth. It's imperative to make your own value. Don't wait for others to validate your righteous truck driving skills. It still matters in some places. If you can be patient and thorough, then you will find your home. Wanna drive OTR cross country? The best place is there! Want to do that line haul and sleep next to the old lady every night (or day?) you can find that too. Slow down, don't fall for the hype. Let them know what YOU can do for their company, not vice versa. Take your time and the diamond will appear! How do I know this? Because it exists where I am.
