Lol why the discount they already have to pay the fee. Seriously though one injury and pop goes the profit.

    Zata40 Thanks this.

I'm willing to risk moving some boxes around for $300/hr.

Might be worth it if you could use their equipment, and not a simple pallet jack.

I’m sure you are, but unfortunately the company is the one baring the risk and thus it’s cheaper to pay an outside party. If the labor laws are relaxed it could be a way to make more $$ for a driver.

Maybe you should look at working for DOT, there you can lump to your hearts content lol.

Most companies have unload fee's built into their freight charges, so the cheaper they get unloading done, the more profitable the load.

Most companies do not want to take a chance of you getting injured and having a workman’s comp case against them. Not to mention an insurance claim if you damage product removing it from the trailer.

What if I pinky swear not to file for workman's comp?

When at customers that don't have the corporate named lumper service (I forget what they called themselves the last time I used them. They've changed their name several times, but had the same EIN number). Just generate your own receipt and a legit looking EIN with the home office's address of 1060 W. Addison, Chicago, IL 60613 (Wrigley Field's address) and the lumper was Elwood Blues

    Woobie and Rugerfan Thank this.

Lol you know the government would consider you as having been coerced into working injured.

Magnum could allow it if they'd change their insurance, you and maybe a handful of others are about the only ones wanting to unload. I'm not interested in breaking down the unload personally, I'd rather join @supersnackbar skateboarding instead :D

I unloaded a 4 stopper my first month here, thinking I was helping Magnum and saving myself some time, and had three different people call me to tell me not to do that. Lol
