I’ve been dragging a reefer around for 17 years and before that I did a variety of trailer types except flatbed and livestock. I’m 47 and too old to start wrestling around with livestock but maybe I can give flatbedding a try. I’ve been out here for 27 years so experience isn’t an issue as far as driving. I’ve looked at TMC and I’m just wondering if it’s worth it. I live in the St. Louis MO areas if there’s anything else around or if anyone has anything to say about TMC.

As for load securement training, you can't go wrong with TMC or even Maverick. I have been with both. And both have good programs. Downsides, TMC's trucks are set too slow, IMO (62mph). And Maverick has a very thorough physical that puts a lot of prospects on the bus home. And they run automatics.

With either one, you'll get your fair share (along with 2 or 3 other people's share) of tarping.

West Side Transport hires in your area. They're dry van and have a guaranteed minimum weekly paycheck where you can make more, but not less, than the guarantee. The company has an excellent reputation.
@DoubleO7 works there; maybe he'll see this and answer your questions.

Are you tired of reefer work because with the elog mandate it’s crippling your income and hometime? Or just bored with it? I hauled reefer in the STL area until last June and when the company said they were going to elogs July 1st, I put my 2 weeks in because I knew at least working there with their customer base, I was gonna never see my house and/or lose $.

    Since we're tossing about companies...

Hauling glass on flat, single drop and double drop, all the fun of flatbed without schlepping tarps.

27 years, don't go with a starter company. Many of the tier 2 and better flatbed companies will train an experienced driver how to secure.

Every TMC truck that I pass has been empty lately. Does TMC even haul anything?
