I have a truck with leaked out antifreeze on my RGN trailer. I need to get it off the trailer and move it about 200 feet. I do not really want to start it, I would rather air up its air system and drag it with a forklift, with the transmission in neutral.
It has a three pedal Autoshift transmission.
I read warnings about disconnecting a driveshaft, but I am not sure what I would harm if I would slowly drag it with a forklift for a short distance.
Any idea
Can you drag a truck with Autoshift transmission in neutral around the yard?

For that short of a distance it won't hurt anything
I've personally pushed and pulled them around a yard like that several times back when I turned wrenches for a fleet that had nothing but autoshifts both two and three peddle
I had a wrecker driver tell me one time that they won't pull a drive line if they are going less than ten milesichudov Thanks this. -
Probably fine. I know for sure you cannot do it with a Volvo iShift, any distance at all and it is trashed.
-
can you roll down a hill with the iShift in neutral?

Drag that deadweight with no wheels rotating at all around to the back of the shop. 80000 pounds of it.
My poor tractor... poor bairns...
It took the abuse and ran fine. But it's a manual and not a auto.
I tell you this. If your auto is in nuetral it should not know much about being towed. You do not want to tow it very far without taking the drive axle out of it. -
I had engine in 2014 Cascadia quit running descending a grade so decided to see how the POS reacted. I shifted to neutral, turned ignition off then back to ON position and shifted to drive and engine restarted. Carried on, don't know if its ok to do but I recall 1940's automatic transmissions could be push started give it a whirl

I'm way lost. If it's in neutral what difference does it make?
And if you go to the trouble of dropping the drive shaft, I sure don't see how that could harm anything. -
No!
They remove the driveshaft when towing.
I guess you could remove the drive shaft disconnecting the transmission from the wheels. -
Lets experiment with a $10,000 transmission!
