From what I been told they use lasers and lidar radar to see and measure width and see the painted lines plus seeing the edge then calculating width to keep it centered
This is why autonomous trucks won't be taking over anytime soon

So basically they'd be useless 9 months of the year up here since the roads are snow covered for 6 months and then it takes 3 months for the contractors to repaint the lines.

Don't forget, you know that cheap fleet manager who never seems to find the funds to get your heat/AC fixed? Or expects you to run a bald tire because, "you've got 17 more"?
Well what are the odds he's going to plunk down a quarter million to replace that tired old KW from the 80's that's "still good for another 2 years"?
Yeah,,,Rollr4872 Thanks this. -
I'm also going to add that Florida just recently had a brand new bridge fall down onto traffic and kill people.
The fact that this country has not been hit by a major military attack or an EMP is nothing short of a miracle. A lot of us take credit for being a world power but the reality is the Greatest Generation was 80 years ago and dying off rapidly. If the bills ever come due frankly I'm not sure this current generation (or the last 3 combined frankly, including mine) would rise to the occasion.
