I was going to say... there have been a time or two I get that chart out and look it over.

Congress are not truckers. Therefore whatever they talk about they don't know that which they speak. Maybe I should find 435 friends and run for Congress so we can get that straightened out. The Friends all have to have been truckers to make this work.

The current HOS as stated by Bulldog is outrageous. I'll also be happy to run the 10 hours rule back in 2001 like we had it then. As bad as that was then it was not grotesquely stupid as they are now what with the 30 minute mandatory stop and the optional 34 hour reset and so on. You don't stop a big truck if you want to put in a good days run. (The old saying keep the left door shut...) split berths and so on.

The big division here seems to be between company drivers and the owner operating crowd.

There's a reason why most of us that are owner operators are such. One reason, I can assure you, is we don't cry about needing a 10 hour consecutive break, or spend our time whining about the big bad boss who's apparent goal in life is to take advantage of us ;-)

Why can't you grow a pair and run legal?
    We all do.

But the Swift and Werner and other company drivers are getting er done even though they run legal and take 10 hours off,
It's the owner ops that cant seem to survive driving legal.
Who cares if that backhaul that only pays for part of the fuel delivers on time?

I should make an APP that pairs up owner ops and USA drivers, then the company drivers can mentor the owner ops on how to manage their time so that they can deliver on time , or mentor them so they’re not stranded 7 minutes from home.

That's where you're mistaken. They AREN'T running legal! They are falsifying their logs just like anyone on paper might, showing off duty or sleeper when they ought to be on duty/not driving, creeping around a parking lot on any line other than line 3, or changing duty status to anything other than line 3 when they are stuck in traffic, at a red light too long, or waiting for a passing train. It is ALL falsification! All of the complaints about "this thing kicks me to the drive line at 5 mph...I want 15 mph" proves my point. The regs state you ought to be on the drive line any time you are at the wheel, even during a "yard move" driving around the lot looking for an empty.

You want to push strict enforcement of the regs, start by strictly complying with them. No more of the "it allows it so it must be OK" bull excrement. Until you're by-the-book legal, you lack credibility to complain about anyone else's falsifications. If you're a religious type, John 8 might do you some good, specifically verse 7 which talks about letting he who is without sin cast the first stone. As long as you falsify your own logs, you are a hypocrite to demand others not do the same.

But did any OTR driver on paper logs log Line 4 while getting unloaded while he was in the sleeper watching tv or surfing the web?
Possibly if he was home every week for a reset, but sleeper time at a dock is actually LIne 2 time.
Plus I doubt too many elogs will allow an Off Duty switch while sitting at a stoplight for 25 seconds
