Physical Requirements for Line Haul

most dollies are easy to move around.. even the big dollies for the turnpike doubles.

the problem comes with finding a GOOD dolley to pull your tail trailer.

make sure you have good (but not expensive) work gloves, as YOU WILL get grease on you just walking by a dolley, the airlines, etc.

I have two forms of Arthritis but not yours just yet thankfully. I would not be the one to be playing with pups and dollies personally.

But if you think you can handle the ow without narcotic medicine (Disallowed as of Jan this year...) go for it, you are a tougher cookie than I am.

 

We had a linehaul driver that couldn’t stand or could barely walk up stairs. Still did the job.

 

I'd say lifting them up and down is easy actually pushing or pulling them definitely can take some work depending on the location. Can be tough.

 

My terminal will have the jockeys do the hooks for the drivers who have physical difficulties (or the old guys).

 

Try and get on with a Union carrier. The year I was at YRC I only had to drop and hook a set 3 times. The sets are always built and the tractors even hooked for you.
