New reports state the construction team was conducting "stress tests" at the time of the collapse. SMH

There will be street cam video detailing exactly what happened but we'll never see it.

And this is one of those cases where they should be. Likely lots of direct and indirect blame to go around on this one

The bridge was nowhere near being finished. It wasn't set to open until next year and there was much work to be done, including the construction of the primary supporting column from which cables were to be suspended.

The construction process ABC (Accelerated Bridge Construction) is well-proven in general and has been in use for many years. There were some unusual aspects to this particular project though, such as placing the span before the primary supporting structure. This isn't a problem so long as the temporary support/shoring is adequate.

At this point it is too early to tell if it is the design, materials, construction, or something else that led to the failure.

    Probably a combination there of.

I just don't see how you can be tweaking with key support members and components of a brand new and untested bridge span [that's still missing it's most critical support component], with such heavy and powerful machinery, and allow people to be underneath.

been all over thr talk radio, and tv news..."why was traffic allowed to continue as this was being "tested" or still being put into place"?

it was not a FL-DOT project, but rather a private one, from what is being said.
