This thread will give you a good idea:: Decision,Decisions Saia has gone so insane with micromanagement that they actually have to offer sign-on bonuses and STILL can't find drivers. For an LTL outfit. It's gotten that bad.
Example: Decision,Decisions
"I told him I'd be by to drop off my padlock, and hazmat booklet as well as the green bible they gave me whenever I made it up that way this week. Funny thing is, my wife and I decided to load up our son and go have dinner in a neighboring city earlier, and guess who texts me? Sure enough, the TM. He was attempting to STILL get me to come to work tomorrow at 10am to start my driver training. What gives? I'm a good driver, and my record is clean, and I can interview well, but are you really trying to tell me, that Saia, who is offering a 3000k sign on bonus and 23.31 an hour to start, has literally no other options than to try and track me down, a day or so after I tell you I don't want to deal with the bs? Are there REALLY that many drivers in this area who have records that aren't "acceptable" by Saia, or have they just ran that many prospective employees off due to the cameras and micromanagement? I can tell you now, if any of the other applicants didn't turn the job down right when they were told about the cameras, they certainly would after doing a little research. I have yet to respond, but I found that extremely strange."
Random LTL Rants (all are welcomed)

How about UPS Truckload in Columbia: think the pay is $.7042 cpm.
UPS Freight Truckload is hiring individuals to work as Full-time OTR Drivers. This position involves the driving of a tractor-trailer for the over-the-road delivery of freight to two or more locations. OTR drivers may take a load from any of our shippers, and deliver North and South east, and as far west as Waterloo, IA. These drivers are typically on the road 7-10 days at a time and normally pull 53’ van trailers.

I used to drive for YRC Worldwide reefer division and it was ok. I was OTR though, so didn't have to deal with the office people very often.

Hey thanks for all the responses . I am going to keep a close eye on this thread. I've been busier than hell for the past few months.
I had to beg and plead... But I managed to be allowed to take four days off.
I am about to drive my wife to the hospital in a few minutes. My son is due today. -

Yeah, man. The FMLA is a law, not a suggestion. They are required to give you that time off, and you should receive no disciplinary action for taking it.

You guys with your young kids have no idea what's in store for you in about ten years. Namely, free child labor.
I haven't cut a blade of grass since my boys got old enough to push a mower. Or cleaned the garage, or painted anything. I just supervise now, usually with a frosty beverage. As long as I make them think it's fun or "grown up," they'll do anything I ask them to.
Bonus, it's been almost 13 years since my wife has accused me of peeing on the toilet seat.Riffraff37, misterG, Cardfan89 and 3 others Thank this. -
