I believe this is related to Watkins since they haul furniture but SNI are looking for drivers out of Lakewood, WA to deliver furniture all over the states. Any drivers know anything about the position? Thank you

Not out of Lakewood, but that will be watkins stuff. Lakewood is a former Watkins terminal so I’m sure it Furniture and carpet. The way it works is u haul a ltl load out of the terminal, deliver it, may take a day may take 2 days may take 3 just depends on freight. When u end u get a load usually broker stuff to get u close to another terminal to get another LTL load. Sometimes u go back to your terminal sometimes you don’t. You will tailgate the furniture and carpet. I read some of those ads and some say no touch, it’s a lie. Everything ltl related that was Watkins is touch freight. Just make sure you know what you are getting into. I loved it at Watkins until Schneider took over. I left in July, I work for another LTL furniture company now, doing the same thing. Just we don’t do backhauls. We get empty and head home. Best job ever lol

    #### it is touch freight then afterall? Was about to apply for this position. What are the trucks like? Do you get help unloading? Is the furniture heavy or dusty? This is for OTR.

If it’s LTL it’s all touch freight. You are responsible for getting it to the back of the trailer. Most places don’t have docks at all. So it’s your responsibility to help get it out of the trailer. Most places will take the stuff once u get it to the back but very few will ever step foot in your trailer. Some places you get to and all that’s there is 1 or 2 older women. At that point, you got two choices sit and wait until they find someone to come get it from you or just take it off yourself and roll on. All Watkins loads are touch freight each terminal has different stuff. Some do just furniture, some do just carpet and some do both. Being WA state I’m gonna say they do both. With ltl you won’t run a lot of miles, you make your money with stop pay. I usually ran 1800-2200 miles but put off 25-30 stops a week. I made good money there. Wish I had never left to be honest. Can’t help much on trucks cause that’s changing now since Schneider took over fully in Jan. I do know down here the guys I know are getting grey and black freightliners with Schneider truck numbers but Watkins Shepard stickers on them. If you get lucky enough to get a red truck they will have a fridge and possibly inverter. Schneider’s trucks do not have either I don’t think.

    Rocknroller4 Thanks this.

Schneider puts inverters in their trucks now. I think they're rated at 1500 Watts. The fridge is definitely a no-go though.
