I know I'll have to rent a truck with air brakes, is the test pretty easy compared to a Class A? I took the class A and aced the pretrip and backing, but for the road test but I hit a curb which is an automatic failure. I can't seem to figure out what is involved for a class B test

    Thanks for any advice

Why don't you try to retake the test?

I don't have the money to rent a semi, and I only want a class B anyway

Well then, the test is the same. The skills test is the same, except you have less room to move around since your aren't dragging a trailer. Obviously be pretrip on the trailer. But you will need need a vehicle to take that test.

If you plan on getting a p endorsement there is more to the tests.

Many ALL rental companies require you to have a CDL to rent a truck that is over 26,000 lbs gvw which is needed to take a class B test.

I know it takes more than that with the major companies (Ryder, Penske etc etc) now. They all require you have a corporate account set up with them.

There are companies that will rent out trucks just for a test, generally with a guy who will sit in the passenger seat when legally required.
