I can't wait to see how this lawsuit works itself out. It'll be very interesting to see who is ultimately at fault in this death.

They will blame the driver as usual, he wasnt looking at the road for sure but still those things have radars, it should locate and hit the brakes way before the impact

I am not putting down technology because we need technology. The problem is, we dont have the technology to have self driving vehicles yet. We arent even close to having safe self driving vehicles out on a public road. Its going to be YEARS... I mean YEARS, before we are ready to put self driving vehicles on the road in public.

Without knowing any other way to put it, Uber was a dumb@ss for even considering doing this. Much less doing it.

So would a driver have been able to avoid the collision? If technology is going to control vehicles it should be superior to human drivers. Otherwise whats the point.

Pedestrian is at fault-not in a crosswalk and wearing all black at night.
Car was traveling at 40mph, even if they did see her, not enough time to stop.

Which is another issue. Why was the car doing 38 in a 35mph zone? Heck if it was doing the legal speed limit or less, it would not have been there to hit her.

As for the not enough time to stop... Well Uber released a video of the wreck. 1.5 second untill one can see the pedestrian to impact. Only problem is some guy in a tech fourm I frequent ran the video through an image editor. Seem all the black shades were flatlined to max. Meaning the video was altered to make the shadows a human would have seen go away.

She jaywalked at night. Just like 100's of other idiots do.

As much as I hate Uber, Tesla, et al this would be a non story if a human had done it.

    Bakerman Thanks this.
