After a total of 5 weeks at their school, I was ready to test, but could not get hardly any practice on skills. I missed at the dmv, and they sent me home. Now I have permit, pre-trip, just need a little practice to pass dmv. Where to go from here??? Another company turned me down because I have already been to this school.

The school was ALABAMA BENZ in Headland, Al. They took us the the Florida (Marianna) DMV. Also I have received a BILL for $7,800.00 from this school !!!!!!!!!!!:biggrin_2551::biggrin_25516::biggrin_2551: After you have failed somewhere you can't go anywhere else, and I didn't have the "down payment" for the school that's near my house, Roadmaster.

So I am just getting a job, and glad that I can. But it put me months behind in bills.

    you're right.
This was a huge rip off, and i know I need a lawyer. I'm not driving, don't have a cdl, and hopefully will be back at the call center in a week or so. very dissapointing experience. I hate to see this happen to someone else, charged this amount of money, capable of driving, but don't get the chance. I have no intention of paying this money. It makes me angry every time I think about it. I just want to warn people so they won't get ripped off.

I started there school at there home terminal in cedar rapids the second week in november . They have great housing there its all brand new , everyone was friendly the college who does there training has a great program you either make it or you dont that easy . my trainer in my truck isnt bad actually best friend from high school . now for the bad my home time for christmas was discussed with my dispatcher three weeks ago thought it wouldnt be a problem getting me home cause my trainer lives in Minnesota and I live in North Carolina . I was wrong we had a load going to Diagowac Michigan friday after noon well the gave us faint directions and the shipper was closed so we sat there for 4 hours waiting for night dispatch to listen to us when we said they were closed . so I asked about my load coming home they acted like they didnt know what I was talking about . Now you'de think having 3 weeks to work things out wasnt going to be a problem . Well I had a pissing contest with dispatch . Finally they sent me home on a bus . They seem very disorganized . But I am gonna stick out the 8 month commitment . wish me luck will keep you guys posted

Keep trying, CRST should bring you back to test. ASK, if not find someone with CDL and truck to test on, then try CRST again. You have 6 months to come back to your contract with CRST, before they take action to collect your bill with them.

Sorry to hear about you getting sent home. BUT, did you spend Christmas on the bus or home. I am a trainer for CRST and my first year I put in for Thanksgiving off. Shot down. Then Christmas off, this was put in 5 months before the Holiday. Didn't happen. CRST employees 5000 drivers, obviously, everyone would like to be home for Christmas, but not going to happen. 3 weeks notice, I would have assummed slim chance of it happening. Christmas day is gauranteed at CRST though. 2 years later, I made sure that I put in for it further in advance. I was home for 6 days Thanksgiving, and even with the Oregon weather the way it was during Xmas, I still spent 2 days at home. Not bragging, just stating it is possible. Bug them for what you want, you normally won't get it unless you do. Stand up for yourself, once I learned to do that, and persistancy, if I have it coming to me, I usually, if it is within their means get it. Dispatchers at night are not quite as informed as your daytime fleet manager, just as they state, they are there to continue to carry out plans made by your weekday fleet manager. You may have pissed them off and that is why they sent you home. Each dispatcher carries a load of about 40-50 trucks, immagine if all 40 had the same dilema as you. Get back with them finish your contract, and be successful. No job is "peachy". Happy Holidays!

My hubby has never had a problem getting home anytime he asked for it including Christmas, Thanksgiving, and even in time to take part in our boy scout troops Haunted Halloween Trail. He even got home on very short notice (less than 48 hours) because I had to have emergency dental work, and don't do well on the pain killers dentists tend to give after extractions. He doesn't drive for CRST, and if that is their approach to home time, he won't either.

just wanted to clean up a couple of your numbers "schristopher"

The co. has 1500-1600 trucks..........3000-3200 drivers....48-50 dispatchers........and each dispatcher has approx. 30-35 trucks in their direct supervision. (day)

Night shift ##$%^&* their are only approx. 25-30 dispatchers on and the mid night shift has even less as the same with the weekend skeleton crews............These folks as mentioned are only here to manage emergencies and follow thru with the day dsp planned trips.

Interesting..........In my 2 years I have managed with no problem of being home thanksgiving and christmas 07'and 08'.................Your day dsp has complete control of this matter and if your numbers are good they will do what is needed to make you happy. Our job is to make them look good and they will take care of us..........

    Happy New Year................

    skullitor Thanks this.
